So, first I'll mention some characteristics that are common in all 4 brushes! :) These brushes feel like good quality brushes and have a nice weight to them! They have a long handle (I think their handle is a bit longer than the one from MAC, I don't own the MAC though, so I can't compare), which is great, especially if you have big hands! However if you usually come too close to the mirror to see what you're doing this long handle won't be very convinient! The bristles are super soft, they feel well made and they don't have any nasty scent! So, on the brushes one by one! As always click on the pictures for larger view! :)
This is my beloved SS150 Large Powder Brush! When they say Large Powder Brush, they definitely mean laaaaarge!! lol ! This brush is seriously huge with a rounded top, I've never had a powder brush that big! It's super soft and it doesn't shed! When I first got it and washed it, only little dye came out of the bristles and it lost 1-2 hairs! That's totally normal, since this is an extremely dense brush! After the first wash it hasn't bleeded or lost any hairs, which is really good, because I hate picking up hairs from my face!! I use this brush every single time I put makeup on, it's great at applying pressed or loose powder, as it picks up a good amount of product! It's a must have brush for me! It's made of natural hairs, but on Sigma's website it doesn't say the exact type of hairs that this brush is made of!
This is the SS188 Small Duo Fibre Brush! It's super soft as well and there's only minimal shedding, like 1 hair every 2-3 applications or something like that, so it's not a big deal! When I first got it and washed it it lost 1-2 hairs and hardly any dye came out! So, nothing strange about this brush either! I use it with my Maybelline Dream Mousse blushes and I love the application!! It doesn't pick up a ton of product, which is great, and it applies and blends these mousse blushes like a dream! What a great combination!! This brush is made of 2 types of hair, the black part is natural hairs (again Sigma doesn't mention the exact type of bristles) and the white part is synthetic hairs!
This is the SS197 Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki Brush! This is seriously such a dense brush, you can't even imagine how dense it is, so keep in mind that it will take 1-2 days to dry after washing it! The SS197 is super soft and it doesn't shed! When I first got it and washed it no dye came out of the bristles and it lost 1 hair! After the first wash it hasn't lost any hairs, which is great, because it so annoying to pick up hairs from my face, especially when putting foundation on! This brush is ideal to use with both liquid and powder products, although it's made of synthetic hairs (usually brushes made of synthetic hairs don't work well with powder products!), so I love using it with both liquid foundation and mineral foundation! :) Since it's extremely dense and flat topped it buffs in the foundation really well and it provides very good coverage! This is another must have brush for me!
This is the SS239 Eye Shading Brush! It's a very soft and dense brush and it doesn't shed! When I first got it and washed no dye came out of the bristles and it lost 1-2 hairs, but after the first wash it hasn't lost any hairs, which is great! This is a quite flat brush with a rounded finish that is great at packing on eyeshadows (pressed, loose, pigments, you name it), as it picks up quite a lot of product! This brush is made of natural hairs, but again Sigma doesn't mention the type of hairs that were used to make this brush! This is another must have brush for me, as I love intense eyeshadows! :)
I've heard some girls complaining that their Sigma brushes shed and bleed after several uses and washes! Well I don't know, I guess they were simply unlucky and got some faulty brushes! I've had these brushes for 2 months, except for the SS188 which I got a bit later (1 1/2 months ago) and I've been using them a lot, you can see that the SS150 and the SS188 are dirty, I didn't have the time to wash them! lol ! I always use the brush guards after each wash to protect my brushes and to help them maintain their shape while drying! I hope that you found this review helpful and that I didn't forget to mention anything about these brushes! If so, leave a comment and I'll answer as soon as possible! You can find more information about Sigma Brushes and the rest of their products on their official website ! I got my brushes from Cambree, so you can check out the prices of these brushes there! :)
