Back in the end of January when I made my very first Elf order this bad boy was out of stock and suddenly Elf announces that Elf USA decided to re-formulate it!!!! Argh!!! I had been dying to try it all this time, since I had never tried a brush cleaner before, and I didn't want to buy the MAC brush cleanser, because it's quite expensive, so when the newly re-formulated Daily Brush Cleaner came in stock at the beginning of this month I was super excited!!!
It comes in a plastic spray bottle that holds 250ml of product, it looks so sleek and professional ! I like the fact that it comes with a spray thing, because that way you don't waste any product, which happens with bottles that simply have a cap and a hole, where the product comes through! I also like the fact that the bottle is see-through and you can see exactly how much product you have left! Here's what it looks like:
The actual product is a clear liquid cleaner! I'm not so fond of the scent that the Daily Brush Cleaner has, it's a quite strong floral scent mixed with alchohol, so I wouldn't recommend using this in a room with closed doors/windows! It doesn't linger on my brushes though, I can't smell anything while using them, so that's good!! But wait... what is this bad boy supposed to do?
The Daily Brush Cleaner is supposed to clean, disinfect and condition the bristles of your brushes! It definitely cleans and disinfects them, as you can see and feel that your brushes are fresh and "revived" after using this product! As for the conditioning part, it doesn't dry out the bristles of your brushes, but it's too early to tell whether it will make them last longer or not!
So, how do you use this? There are 2 different way you can use this: take an old towel or a papel towel (please, please, please choose the old towel instead of the paper towel, our world doesn't need more garbage) and either spray the product on the (paper) towel or directly on the bristles of your brush and then gently wipe off the brush on the (paper) towel using back and forth or circular motions! Repeat process if needed until there's no color coming out of the brush, reshape your brush and leave it flat to dry! Depending on how dense the brush is it will take from 2-10 minutes to dry, because this cleaner (like all brush cleaners) contains alchohol, so brushes dry quickly!
I've used the Daily Brush Cleaner with several different brushes, like eyeshadow brush used with nude eyeshadow, small stippling brush used with Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush, concealer brush, eyeshadow brush used with shimmery eyeshadow! I really liked the results with all of them, except for the small stippling brush used with Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush, it took some of the color out, but the bristles are still very colored, although I used a lot of product! However it removed the shimmery eyeshadow from the eyeshadow brush and the concealer from the concealer brush, which was really impressive!! So, from my experience it's best to use this cleaner with small brushes rather than with big face brushes, especially those used with cream/liquid products (cream blush, liquid foundation etc) !
Overall I really like this brush cleaner, it's great value for money, as you get 250ml of product for only £3.50, and it will clean and disinfect your brushes really well ! It's really important to make sure that our brushes are super clean, otherwise we could get pimples, infections and other nasty stuff like that! So, you definitely need one of those! :) You can buy it online here ! ;)
